SPORT PILOT PROGRAM

Nothing can compare to the excitment and exhilaration of learning to take the controls and pilot your own airplane If you have always wanted to learn to fly and thought it was too time consuming or expensive then the FAAs new light sport pilot certificate is for you.

The sport pilot certificate will enable you to learn to fly in half the time and cost of the traditional private pilot certificate when you learn in the seat of a factory new Evector Sportstar.

What is a Sport Pilot?
In September 2004 the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) authorized a new pilot certificate and a new category of aircraft. The Sport Pilot certificate and the Light Sport Aircraft.

What is a Sport Pilot license?

Allows a person to fly Light Sport Category Aircraft, and with restrictions on where and when he flies. Requires only 20hrs of training vs the 40hrs for the Private Pilot license.

Your instructors here at Westwind have learned a few things in their careers about pilot training.

Positive Experience

First, learning to fly must be a positive experience. The people who are having fun and enjoying themselves are the ones who learn the quickest and retain the most of what they learned. We believe learning to fly is an adventure that you will remember for the rest of your life and it is our goal to make sure the lessons you learn here will stick with you for the rest of your life.

Efficient and Effective Training

Second, for flight training to be most efficient and effective you have to fly often.Traditionally people learning to fly went about it by flying once or twice a week or once every other week. This is often frustrating and expensive. When you learn to fly if you go too long between lessons you must spend part of each lesson relearning what you were taught on your last flight. Throw in the usual distractions of everyday life and many find their flight training taking longer and costing more than they had anticipated.

We've seen this frustration over and over again in our careers as a instructors. The easiest way to overcome this and make your training much more efficient is to train full time, much as the airlines and military do. So, we have designed a 12 day immersion training couse for the Sport Pilot license.
